Gregorius Eriksen Haugerød

Gregorius was born April 14, 1827 on the farm Haugerød in Gjerpen. His parents were Erik Mikkelsen Haugerød and Marte Halvorsdatter.

In 1835 the census shows:

As family nr 2 on Haugerød Østre, lived Niels Michelsen, age 31 and wife Karen Mathisdatter, age 30. He is probably a brother of Erik.

In 1845, we find the same people living on Haugerød Østre:

His father Erik had received a deed for Haugerød, dated Oct 24, 1817. His father Mikkel Sigurdsen had died in 1804 and his mother Abigael conveyed the farm to Erik for 200 speciedaler. In 1862 Erik’s son Mikkel received the farm (dated April 3rd) from his father, included their part in the farm Fjelldalen.

Gregorius married Sept 17, 1855, Gunhild Ellevsdatter Bestul, the daughter of Ellev Johnsen Bestul and Ingeborg Engebretsdatter. They had emigrated in 1844. They had one child, Edwin Gustav, born Jan 19, 1857, died June 28, 1857. Ingeborg also died that year, March 10th.
Gregorius married again, May 23, 1859, to Anne Thorine Nielsdatter.
They had the following children:

Grethe Kirstine, born Sept 13, 1865.

Gregorius’ father Erik Mikkelsen, was born 1794 on the farm Åmot in Gjerpen. He had married Oct 12, 1820, Marte Halvorsdatter, born 1793 in Fjeldalen, by parents Halvor Bjørnsen and Anne Magdalene Gregoriusdatter.  Erik Mikkelsen’s parents were Mickel Sigurdsen Østre Haugerød, born 1768, married 1793 to Abigael Andersdatter. Michel died 1804. His father was Sigurd Nielsen Åmot, born 1743, and died  the same year as his son, in 1804.
