Ole Zachariassen Berberg: He was born
May 24, 1823 on the farm
Southern Berberg. His parents were Zacharias Olsen and Magnhild
Ole married Ingeborg Olsdatter, born April 24, 1821 on the farm Høymyr
by parents Ole Ellingsen Skilbred and Dorte Kirstine Aslaksdatter (moved
to Skilbred ca 1821-23), and they had five children.

In 1845 we find on the farm Skilbred:

10 years earlier, in 1835, we find the family again on Skilbred:

According to the writings of Gerhard Naeseth, Ole
worked as a steam mill hand in Brokkfield, and by 1860 he was living in
Palmyra township in Jefferson County.
Ole was a brother of Simon Zachariassen Berberg,
who emigrated in 1844 and also of Amund Zachariassen
Berberg, who emigrated with him in 1847. Also their sister Kari
emigrated in 1847.
Their parents Zacharias Olsen and Magnild Simonsdatter married in 1807 in
Gjerpen. Zacharias was the son of Ole Amundsen and Gunhild Zachariasdatter
and Magnhild was the daughter of Simon Gregoriusen Lund and Karen Kirstine
Jacobsdatter. Zacharias died Jan 28, 1842 on Berberg and Magnhild died February
Zacharias and Magnhild had the following children, all born on Berberg in
Gunnil, born 1808
Karen, born 1810.
Ingeborg, born 1812, married Oct 3, 1839 to Jacob Andersen Kaasen from Solum.
Maren, born 1814.
Simon, born 1817.
Simon, born 1821, emigrated in 1844.
Ole, born 1823, emigrated in 1847.
Kirstine, born 1826.
Amund, born 1831.
Note: According to Clayton Swanton in Ashippun township,
Wisconsin, he had the name Ole Saukerson in America. They moved to South
Dakota in 1885. Ole died Feb. 10th 1906 in Academy, South Dakota and
Ingeborg died Oct. 29th 1906 at the same place.
