Anne Hansdatter
Vassenden
Utreist med/Emigrated on: "SUPERB" to New York. Arrived July
2, 1849
with 121 passengers.
Utreist til/Emigrated to: Skoponong settlement in Wisconsin.
Anne was born April
4, 1828 on the small place Vassenden (the Water’s End) by parents Hans
Christensen and Aslau Andersdatter. By the time of emigration in 1849 she was a
maid by Aslak Halvorsen Sverrige and his family, and this is also where she met
her future husband
Nils Olsen Eriksrød.
Her mother Aslau died in 1833 and the probate is dated Dec 10th. In
the document it says that the father, Hans Christensen, was about to get
married again. Their other children were: Ole, age 8.3/4, Anders, age 3 and
Ragnhild, age 8.3/4.
In 1835 (census) we still find the family at Vassenden. Hans(age 32) has now
married Signe Solvesdatter, age 38, and they have one daughter, Andrea, age
1 1/2.
