Ole Olsen Oredalen: Gerhard
Naeseth says that he might be the Ole Ohredahlen, who dies at Pine Lake,
Sept 21, 1849.
Note: Ole Olsen was born on Kjølnes in Siljan (Slemdal) in 1806.
Moved to
Oredalen under Sneltvedt in Gjerpen in April 1839. See their marriage
there (Gard Strøm).
According to the emigration record he is born 1806 and married to Helvig
Pedersdatter, born 1807.
I have not found these people born in Gjerpen. Nor have I found them married.
But I find them in the census of 1845 on Oredalen under Nordre Sneltvedt.
They are then both 39 years of age and have the children Pauline, age 3,
Ole, age 1 1/2.
They had the following children born in Gjerpen:
Ole, born June 24, 1844 at Oredalen. He is dead before 1851.
Pauline, born March 1, 1842. Died August 26, 1848.
Ole, born January 6, 1840. Died in Gjerpen Aug 23, 1841.
Helvig married a second time to Niels Christophersen
Bøe, March 23, 1851. He had also emigrated in 1847.
Helvig dies and is buried March 6, 1872, presumably in the Ashippun Lutheran
Cemetery.
In the conveyance register I found that the brothers Ole Olsen Kjølnes
and Halvor Olsen Nøglegaard received through an auction a deed for
Oredalen in 1837. Halvor transferred his part to Ole April 1, 1838, and
Ole sold the farm to Ole Johnsen Kaasa March 23, 1847 for 490 Speciedaler.
This was probably because he emigrated.
